1988 Mirage 1500cc
 

Hi guys,
My Mirage/Lancer i just put back on the road, after sitting for 6 months, is very sluggish and won't acelerate away under load (Very bad on fuel) and the only way to drive at highway speeds is to have to o/d off as it slows down with it on.
It feels like there's no advance on the dizzy but thats done by the computer.
The car is quite driveable on light throttle if you use the geards to accelerate and ok around town
I have checked alot of things that i can, fuel pump pressure and flow,plugs, leads, air cleaner. I cleaned the air mass sensor with the proper stuff but no change. But i goes better (still a bit jerky on acceleration but better)with it unplugged. Does this mean that the air mass sensor is no good or i'm masking another problem.
It has had a cambelt about 60,000kms ago so i think we can rule that out. Someone has put a seconhand exhaust manifold on it but don't know weather they used the oxygen sensor but i'm sure they don't fail that often.
Could the timing be out as someone told me that it isn't that easy to check the timing as you have to "earth out" a wire to put it in "timing mode" as mybe the timing is out. Just trying to think of something not quite so obvious.
