Wet floor in 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage

I have water leaking from under the dash onto the floor. I tried to spray water into the ac drain. When I did this, water flowed out pretty well. It is still leaking. I pulled the glove box off and the carpeting, but I can't figure out how to get to the drain to see if it is clogged or a bad seal or what. Any suggestions?

Does it only leak when the a/c has been on? If so for sure plugged hvac housing drain. Try sticking a hanger or something up it to break the clog up

Yep, it only leaks when the AC is on. I shot some water into the drain, and it seemed to all flow back out. It is still leaking from where the drain pipe goes into the firewall. Is there a seal at the firewall that could have gone bad? Or is the clog probably still there despite the water draining out pretty well? Thanks for your reply Hon450

When you shot water up there you probably moved the clog but it clogged again. It's probably a leaf or something of the sort. There usually isn't a seal it's just a hose that goes from the hvac housing to outside the vehicle. How long have you owned the car before the leak started?

You have to make sure that your AC lines are ALL insulated inside as they will condensate also. How much water do you get.. a few drips and cup full Etc. If your condensate drain is working that would probably be the answer. Good Luck.

Yes, it surely only moved the clog around. I was able to get the cover open just enough to see inside and see it is loaded with pine straw. Now the problem is getting the cover off and getting the evaporator out to clean it. I'm trying to get the dash out in order to move it out, but that is easier said than done. It seems I can't find all of the bolts to get it out. I have owned the car since it was new, but it just started leaking last summer. It is enough water to soak through the carpet and the wife's purse!
