[HELP]2001 Montero Limited Lower Glove Box Locked (Permanently)

HI,

I have a problem(on my 2001 Montero Limited) with the lower lockable glove box. I locked it and now it won't unlock! I removed the upper box, but it doesn't look like I can get the lower one out to try to figure out what is going on.

Does the ignition key lock these boxes or is there another key...the reason I ask is when I locked it, it seemed to be a bit more difficult to lock than it should have been. Maybe this should have been a warning for me. :(

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated

Rod

uh oh, i just read your reply on someones similar thread.

but yours is unique, that little trick to drill the center wont work because the actual one exposed on the bottom is stuck.

it looks like as you mentioned something has jammed the lock.

and YES the ignition key is what unlocks and locks it.

You try spraying some wd40, pb blaster in the lock, maybe loosen it up?

extreme cases may call for having a lock smith look at it.

and the anger method is just to rip the entire thing, break it, and find a new glove box :(

Permanently Locked Glove Box Problem

Thanks...tried all of that...looks like I will have to resort to anger or locksmith.(locksmith will be cheaper) ;)

Take care,
