I own 2001 Montero full size with 3.5L Recently I was not able to move the shifter. I got it apart (center console and making the way down the cable) realized that it is a shaft coming out of transmission that won't move at all. Something got stock inside of tranny. It did happen twice in last few years, but went away after couple of days. This time when i parked the car on incline, moved shifter into PARk, i was able to remove the key, but car started rolling backwords - things did not fully got engaged. What would of cause that, and if i take the tranny pan off would i be able to see the shifter shaft? are the any bushings? I can't find mechanical BOM diagram.
