Mitsubishi Montero & Montero SportThis sport utility vehicle offers more size than the other Mitsubishi SUVs, but manages to keep a sporty look and comfortable feel, unlike many larger SUVs.
I am currently living in Costa Rica and recently purchased a 1989 Montero Sport LS 3.0 4x4 with a manual transmission. Can someone tell me where the PCV valve is located? Also, when I bought the car, I went to the gas station and filled it up. The attendant noticed when the tank was full, it was leaking a lot of fuel. I called the previous owner, and he said, "oh yes...don't fill it all the way or it will leak"! Do you think the in-line fuel pump gasket or connecting hoses could be the issue?
I have a 1990 Montero (not a sport) and I had that problem a few years ago. The fuel fill hose (between the tank and the gas cap) had cracked. It got worse and worse. Eventually any time I put any gas in the tank it leaked and I left a puddle of gas on the ground. I went to the local dealer and they had to search the inventory of the whole country to find one. I eventually got it and was able to replace it. Not too hard to do from the wheel well. New hose clamps and it's been fine since.
Looks like that was the issue. For now, I've put some sealer over the cracked hose. The next challenge will be to find a replacement, as the part is discontinued, and I live in Costa Rica. Thinking a flex hose must exist somewhere?? Thanks again for your help!
