1990 Montero RS >Engine Swap< 1993 Montero RS??? RS
 

Can it be done? I have a great 1990 with a solid body and an offer to buy a beat up 1993 for pennies. The 1993 is an Automatic, 1990 is a Manual... Is it possible? can I swap motors? are the frames different? Engines? Bell Housing? IS IT POSSIBLE??? Hard to tell just by looking. Might be fun to try....
Any words of wisdom out there? Any thoughts? I need to pull the trigger on the second vehicle if I'm going to do it...

Can't guarantee that it will or will not work - don't have any first hand experience with this. Do some searching on the forum. I recall some time back (possibly year(s)) there was good discussion on which engines will interchange and mate properly to various transmissions.

Wasnt the 1990 Montero based on a different frame than the 91-99 Monteros? I very well could be wrong.....guess you need to do more digging.......or take Ross Perot's advice and "Just Do It".......spend those pennies and snatch that 93 while you can. Could very well work, and if not it sounds like you got a fantastic parts rig.
