1998 Montero Sport keeps stalling

Okay so driving from LA to Seattle. I stop to get gas in Oregon (about 700 miles into the trip) Go to start the car and its dead. Let it sit for a minute and then it fires right up. Took off up I-5 made a few stops here and there and it was fine. Then it did it again but wouldn't start up at all. So I got some cable and gave it a jump. No problems for another 400 miles with random stops. The next afternoon I take off down a couple streets come to complete stops at all the stop signs then I come to another stop sign and the RPMs just fall to 0. I put in park start it up and it starts revs up a little, then stalls again. It does this repeatedly. So I just keep the RPMs up as a shift into gear. I get going back to my house and every time I slow down or don'T have my foot on the gas it will just stall. After letting the car sit, putting a new battery and fuel filter in, I take off and it does the exact same thing. So it seems that when the car is cold it drives/idles properly. But once it warms up is when the problems start. Anybody have any suggestions or experiences on what this good be. TIA

Problem solved

After searching this forum deeper, I found that after replacing the battery, it is necessary to run the car (idle) for 10 minutes so it can "learn". Did that and problem solved. Nice. :o)
