1999 Montero Sport xls

My doors will lock with the door switches but will not unlock. Any ideas?
Also about a month ago it inadvertanly locked itself about 3 or 4 times after that is when it wouldn't unlock at all.

my drivers door does this

my drivers door will lock but not unlock using the inside switch. seems complicated and expensive to fix so I just use the remote.
