2000 Montero Sport

Bought a 2000 Montero Sport the other day and found that the tail lights and internal instrument and back lighting do not illuminate when the lights are turned on. All associated fuses are good. Tail light bulbs are good.
I have found a few threads on this but nothing definitive. Looking for any updated info on successfully resolving this issue. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Step 1. Replace the fuses.
Step 2. Check if lights work.
If YES - you are done
If No - find what causes fuses to burn (short in the wiring)

Step 3. Please read my post again and respond accordingly if you have anything further to offer.

You said you've read other threads. What do they suggest as a potential problem? It is likely that tail lights circuit is on the relay. Can't tell you that with 100% certainty or which relay that might be. You can look in that direction.
You only specify "tail light" not working. Do your front marker lights work?

Tail light and interior instrument lighting resolved! The turn signal switch assembly was at fault. Replaced with one from a scarp Montero to resolve. Thanks for all the input
