2000 Montero Sport cutting off after disconnecting battery cable.

Hello, I have a 2000 Montero Sport after disconnecting the battery cable to clean some corrosion the car starts up then cuts right off. sometimes it stays running but after driving and coming to a stop, the car cuts off as soon as I take my foot off the gas pedal. It will start right back but this keep happening. It appears as if there is some type of anti-theft device activated. Does anyone have any idea as to what might need to be reset after disconnecting the battery cable....thanks for your input.

Do a search for IAC or Idle Air Controller and Stalling. Or to save you time, check out: http://msport97.proboards.com/index....ay&thread=6258

I have had the same issue with my Monty, but it goes away after driving it a few days. I was thinking the computers reset themselves and need to re-learn everything. Mine did it when I changed the timing belt and just last week my alternator. Both times I had the battery disconnected for more than an hour.

dont get scared yet.

you reset the ecu. drive around and let it recalibrate things.

sensors dont just break because of ecu reset.

now if there was some piggy back controller or something that had modified fuel trims because of changed hardware so it would run properly, then yes, but i HIGHLY doubt that.

most US montero and montero sport owners cant even install intakes, let alone anything advanced like that heh
