Couple of obvious things to check:
1. condition of all vacuum tubing around the EGR solenoid and valve.
2. EGR solenoid itself
3. Is the ERG tube and passage in the manifold clear?

Did all of that

Yes that goes without saying but I should have said it - talked to a mechanic today who suggested that the code may just be permanently in the log and it will not go away - I have deleted it several more times and so far it has not came back on while driving city/hwy - thanks for responding

Never heard of a code being "permanently in the log". Have you tested your new ERG valve for functionality? Easy test - engine at idle; pull vacuum on the ERG valve; if engine hesitates and/or stalls - the valve is working. If no reaction - you got a defective EGR valve.

Hi, have exact same issue, check engine just came on codes say EGR, I can purchase online solenoid w/valve, where exactly is solenoid located, is it easy to get to , been checking videos and still not sure?? Much appreciate reply, thanks

EGR solenoid is on the back of the intake manifold right next to the throttle body (towards the firewall). Iti kind of a PIA to get to. The best way to get to it seems to be - disconnect all the wire harness connectors in that area, move them out of the way, then remove a metal bracket holding ERG solenoid (held to the manifold by 4 bolts). After that it is a single bolt holding solenoid to the bracket.
Make sure to take pictures and label ALL vacuum hoses there. If you get them connected wrong - it's back to the CEL shining :(
