2001 Montero Sport - Cold start problem
 

My Dad and I have a 2001 Montero Sport 2wd (automatic transmission) with what we think ispossibly either a cold start problem or computer related ignition problem. The engine sputters and stalls when it is cold, It can be started by feathering the gas pedal (like a cold carbureted engine without a choke) but you must continue to do this until the engine warms up, which is quite difficult switching between gears and when stopping. We discovered that disconnecting the battery (to charge it) and reconnecting it, it seems to reset whatever the fouled component is because it starts perfectly and idles correctly like it should for a few days until the situation repeats itself. We are curious if anyone else is or hasexperienced this or has any ideas?

Did you pull any codes? I believe Autozone does this free of charge.
