2002 Montero Limited KNOCK SENSOR LOCATION

Im new to this forum so Hi everyone.
ok down to business...

i just bought an 02 montero limited. I got the engine code for a bad or faulty knock sensor. For the life of me I cannot locate this sensor! Any pictures or diagrams would help me greatly!!

It is located in the V between the cylinder banks, under the intake manifold.

So you have to take the intake manifold out. Might as well replace the plugs and everything else that needs replacing there.

On one hand - yes, since you are there... On the other hand - do you have any issues with the current spark plugs and wires? Do you have 50-60k on those plugs? If not - leave them alone. No reason to throw money into the wind.

You know honestly. I don't know how many miles are on them. I bought the beast used from a private party.

In that case you are right - replace them and you'll have good long time before you have to get in there again. Make sure to use Irridium plugs (not cheapo stuff).
