Default Timing

Replace timing belt 1yr ago. Bolt broke to tensioner. Timing marks on both heads and crank at different positions. How do I know if I bent any valves. Was doing about 35mph when it happened.

Default RE: Timing

My belt failed in a similar way

while you were going 35 this happened....did you use the starter to try to restart the vehicle?-big no-no

The only safe recourse is to pull the heads and have them inspected, at the very least. I had mine (2002 MonteroSport) both rebuilt for 180 bucks- I supplied the parts.

Get a new belt and water pump and pullies (use all new hardware/bolts)....take a lot of pictures on the disassembly!!! It saved me a TON.

Good luck.
