96 Montero Dash Lights Pulse at Stoplights

I have a 1996 Mitsubishi Montero with 138,000 miles on it. I only got it two months ago and have put a lot into it. Pretty much everything is new....

Since it came back from the mechanic, I've noticed that when the lights are on at night, the dash lights do a steady pulse rhythm whenever I am at a stop light. This does not happen when the vehicle is moving. I did not have the car very long before I put it in the shop, but I don't remember this happening before.

I researched and came up that it could be the alternator. I took the car to Auto Zone and was advised that the alternator tested in the normal range.

Do any of you have any idea as to what might be causing this?

I see no one answered this. I had the same problem on my 94 mits montero. The belt tensioner wasn't replaced and over time the belt would loosen up enough to not spin the alternator enough to full charge. I replaced the belts and tightened the alternator adjustment and the dash light pulsing stopped.

Good luck.
