97 Montero Sport hatch lift ball stud

I bought two aftermarket lifts for the back hatch, but the old lifts seem to be permanently attached to the ball stud. Is there any way to get them off the stud? If not, could someone kindly tell me what the size and thread count are for the ball stud bolts?
