97 Montero SR ignition timing

97 Montero SR ignition timing
Hi all,
I called a dealer and was told that it cost over $100 to adjust the timing. When I drive up a hill, etc., I hear the pinging noise.
How can I adjust the ignition timing? There is no distributor and have no clue.
