Default 98 montero sport power door locks

Looking for advice for my door locks.I have one wire hot at all times to the front door actuators.even with the lock switches disconnected.when toggling the switch the actuators try to move but return to the original position when letting off on the switch. This hot wire condition will drain the battery overnight unless I pull the fuse for the locks.Could it be a faulty ETACS-ACU and can someone explain what this device is?Thanks to all.

tom61:

Here is an article I wrote a few years back about the lock - unlock problem. https://mitsubishiforum.com/m_14320/tm.htm

Your "toggling" problem sounds similar and several other owners have gotten back to me saying they had the same symptom which was cured bymy "fix". The driver's side actuator is the master unit.Inspect it as detailed in my posting or justunhookit and go manual until you can get a new one.

I don't recall for sure, but it may be normal for there to be +12 on one of the wires to the actuators at all times. The internal microswitch breaks contact until the polarity is reversed with the next push of the switch or remote.

Hope this helps

Ron

Thank for the advice Ron I'll try unplugging the dr. side actuator.Ive already installed it new from the dealer though($205).So i'm thinking its the ETACS-ECU according to my service manual.
