Default Aftermarket parts (again?)

At the risk of exploding this forum again as well as the risk to my emotional health, I wanted to bring your attention to the recurring issue of Mitsubishi vehicles NOT "liking" aftermarket parts. This forum is full of threads about people trying to trace down an issue, swapping an aftermarket part only to find out that it did not fix the problem. I've run into this myself several times when dealing with electrical systems (solenoids). When you drove up to O'Reileys, AutoZone, etc. to use their scanner, it is very tempting to just throw in a cheap part for whatever the code reader said the issue is, especially when an 18 year old kid from the store tells you that this is what the problem is and they always recommend to replace the part. Plus, it is not an expensive replacement, its only $XX number of dollars, which is 10 times less than the original Mitsubishi part. Well, the I always suspected that there is a reason why some parts are cheap. Unfortunately, relying on anecdotal evidence (not replicated singular experiences) I could not prove that there was something in it beyond my suspicion. I recently came across the three part series of EVAP leak troubleshooting case study from ScannerDanner. This was an interesting lesson. Two things I learned from it: 1. I don't want to troubleshoot EVAP codes, and 2. Use OEM parts.
The videos are long, but worth watching. I'd say grab a beer, (better yet, park a cooler full of beer next to you) and settle down for the lesson. I hope you find it useful:

I've purposely avoided purchasing a brand new MAF sensor for this exact reason. It really seems like in general all the aftermarket parts for our sports are just crap. I'm currently going through the wringer with alternators atm. I've gone through two of them in the last couple months and this one I just installed is probably going to kick the bucket soon too. First one saw the voltage regulator go out, the second one literally exploded, and this current one is causing a severe light flickering problem that apparently does not qualify for warranty replacement. All the suspension components I purchased except the Beck Arnley ball joints has failed in under a year. My point is that I'm pretty sure most aftermarket parts are just not built very well.

On another note, ScannerDanner is awesome.
