A/C Problem 2000 Sport
My 2000 Sport 3.0 has a confusing AC problem.
The AC will stop working when the vehicle gets hot. Most often when sitting in traffic or stop and go moving... It only does it during the summer when temps get above 90 or so .. we live in Florida. It's been doing this for about 2 years now and I am finally over it and need to figure this out. I think I read somewhere a while back that the Monteros have this problem due to a relay or something but can't remember.... The system IS charged and running within proper fill range Any theories?? |
is the engine temp gauge getting past the halfway point?? if it is, the coolant temperature is getting too high, the pcm will shut off the a/c system to try and cool the engine down. is the a/c condensor fan working?? located inside the front grill in front of the condensor. if not, the pressures in the a/c system will get too high due to high temp and the pcm also will turn off the a/c system in this case. there is on that model of sport an outside temperature sensor that has been known to go bad and give false high readings causing the pcm to shut off the a/c system. so there you have it, most of the common causes of a/c failure on the sport. good luck!!
