Can Some 1 explain different Montero 4WD system to me?

I tried searching and gathered some info but still not sure. Can some1 point me to a link or just explain to me? Below is what I think I figured out so far, please let me know if I am right or wrong. Thanks

2nd gen.
92-2000 all models. There are 4 modes
2H - Rear wheel drive
4H - full time 4 wheel drive, 50/50 split. SAFE for dry pavement use. Can use up until 64mph.
4Hlc - full time 4 wheel drive, 50/50 split. NOT safe for dry pavement. only for super slippery conditions like mud, ice and gravel.
4Llc - Same as 4Hlc but with more torque and used for low speed towing stuff.

3rd gen.
2001-2002 XLS
same as 2nd gen
2001-2002 limited and all 2003-2006
"Active-Trac" - WHAT IS ACTIVE-TRAC? from what I gathered, it sounds like automatic AWD, that gives more power to the wheel with traction. I don't know, I am lost. a little help?

To Mr. Z I can't send you private messages for some reason so I am just guna reply here.

Thanks. That sounds like I was right then. with Active Trac, 4H becomes like an "automatic AWD" like all modern AWDs that puts more power to the wheel with traction (like the Audi quattro). and without active trac, its like a full time 4WD with open diff. Sound about right?

Can you manually activate and disable active-trac in your car?
Have you had any major problems and concerns with the car in its 100K history?

You cannot "disable" Active-Trac. You just shift into 2H and return the system to rear wheel drive. Active-Trac is Mitsubishi's brand name for their 4WD system, known as Super Select 4WD in other markets. Here are a couple of links you might want to take a look at:

Wikipedia

Mitsubishi Motors UK

Mitsubishi Motors Japan

Once the Active trac is engaged you must shift back into 2H to disengage it.
My vehicle has work very well.
The only major repair has been the rear cam o-ring needing to be replaced.
Everything else has been general, such as brakes, "tune-ups", fluid exchanges, etc.
I would recommend changing the fluids in all essential areas as per factory specs. I drive mine in severe conditions (desert, snow, etc.) so trans. fluids, gear oil, and motor oil exchanges are more frequent for me than everyday drivers.

Good Luck,
Mr. Z.
