Changed plugs, doesn't like to start
 

Hi all, and thanks in advance for the help and wisdom.

I just changed the plugs on my Monty Ltd (Rhino II 199,300 mi), and was pleasantly surprised when Im didn't have any bolts, screws or connectors left over after I put everything back together :)) ). It was reluctant to start after I was finished, and I assumed it was just because fuel needed to get through the lines or some other post-operative issue.

But, in the last two days, it has really not wanted to start when cold in the morning. Instead of starting immediately as it always has, I have to crank it 10 - 15 times and then feather the throttle until i can get it to idle. Once it warms up, it runs as smooth as silk.

I'm stumped. I have perused my shop manual and have not found anything. Can anyone pls give me an idea of where to look for a solution?

On a 2001 model (probably others too), there is a metal gasket between the throttle body and the plenum. If it is installed incorrectly the vacuum distribution is wrong and you can have stalls and symptoms you are describing. The gasket is large square shape with small holes for four bolts that hold the TB to the plenum. It has an elongated tab in one corner. The tab must be on the back end (towards the rear of the engine) and facing up.
You also may want to check your vacuum line routing. Depending on how much you too off when doing the work, it is easy to get them connected wrong during assembly.

Hunter, it appears to have "self corrected"...no problems for the last couple of weeks.

I did, however, check all the hoses and fittings, and we're ok.
