Does it have an oil leak at the camshaft seal. You won't always see it. If you feel under the alt it should be oily. If you've rebuilt the alt then I'm sure you've noticed. I only ask because of all the mixed reasonings for alt failure.

 

I know this thread is really old, but: I have a 2000 Galant ES with the upper most ciggaratte lighter not working. I finally found the problem and it was NOT the fuses, it is actually a little metal tab inside the fixture that broke off and thus when you plug something in, the postive cannot make a connection. I have to replace the fixture by taking it out of the dash. If I do it, I will report back with photos possibly and how to do it.
