front cam seals mitsubishi montero sport

I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. I have been through several alternators, and after researching, I think I have come to the conclusion that it is due to an oil leak on my front cam seal. Having said that, I know nothing about cars, I'm just telling my dad what I can find out. He can probably fix it, we just need to know how. Can anyone tell me how, and if it is super complicated? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

dealing with the front cam seals means a hell of a job, if you are due on your timing belt then it is the right time change it all the seals up front of your engine, thats the best solution....

I had to replace an alternator because of an oil leak as well..

My problem was that I am an amateur, and put full synthetic oil in an engine that was always run with regular oil. My chemical engineer father told me that this caused the oil to foam and expand; and leak out of the engine onto the alternator.

I don't know what type of oil you use, but I drained the full synthetic, changed the oil filter, and put in a synthetic blend oil<- all before I changed the alternator.

Haven't had any leaking oil or alternator problems since, hope that helps!
