Front end wear - planning for garage time

My '99 MS has 143k on it and I want to spend some time on front end maintenance.
One problem - there's quite a bit of steering wheel play. I can rotate the steering shaft 5-10 degrees without any movement in the steering gear output shaft at all.
Also - I'm hearing some knocks/clunks when I hit bumps at low speeds.

Do you think all 4 ball joints and tie rod ends be time/money well spent?
I figured pitman/idler arms wouldn't hurt either.
I'll probably pack the wheel bearings with some fresh grease too.

Do you think this stuff will improve or cure my problems?

Good idea on all items. Dont forget new shocks all the way around as well!

I don't know about the other items, butbefore my lower ball joints were replaced2 months ago, my wheel was shaking at all speeds around 10-45MPH...less as my speed increased.

This might help too. http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showfl...mp;Main=962286

Since the 99 model year- Mitsu has released a TSB (listed under body vibration) with an improved steering intermediate shaft, and updated steering column. This primarily was to reduce rattles at the steering wheel while driving under rough/rutted roads. Idler arms is also a common wear item for the Montero Sport. Aside from that, you can physically check all of the ball joints in all of the steering and suspension linkages and replace them if worn. Good Luck!
