ignition control module?
Took car in beacuse coil pack (one of three) was not firing after I replaced the old one for the same reason. Mech. said it might be the ignition control module. Does this sound possible to anybody or familiar. If it is then I might be doing it myself, any advise??

RE: ignition control module?
You should check for codes. It could be the control module, but it could be a lot of things. First thing is to check for codes, if you don't have a code, then you have eliminated most electrical items. (cam sensor, crank sensor, computer). Autozone will read the codes for free. The plug is down near the floor on the drivers side.
There are a few ways to check for an intake manifold leak. Take a propane torch and spray it around your intake manifold(not ignited of course), if your engine speeds up you have a leak. Also check your vacuum hoses to ensure they are connected properly. You need to do some more diagnosis before you start throwing parts at it. For a mechanic to say "it might be the ignition control module". Is about as helpfull as saying "I think there is some part that is broken"?!?!? |
Does anyone know where the Ignition Control Module is located on a 2003 Montero Ltd. 3.8L???
