Like Others Before...Timing Belt Change
 

I had to replace water pump and an AC compressor on a 99 Sport w/3.0V6. Car also has factory alarm horn. The car was running fine...till I started screwing around with it.

I opted to replace the timing belt as vehicle has 73k miles on it.

Work is completed and included botha cam position sensor and a crank sensor.

Problem is the starter spins but no engine start. All timing marks have been checked three times. However, if this thing had a distributor I could be sure all was at #1 TDC.

I haven't checked for spark at any of the three coil packs or six plugs yet. I do have fuel in the fuel return line but, do not smell raw gas at the tail pipe.

Questions:

How do you ensure a #1 TDC without a distributor?
Might there be some other electrical "control device" (perhaps within the alarm circuit) that wouldprohibit spark and fuel operation?

check if your wires are connected......any loose connections or moved somthing you may have hit

you probably knocked the crankshaft reluctor off of the mounting pins on the back of the crankshaft gear, as long as you didnt bend any valves during the belt change.

Nope. crankshaft doohicky is where it is supposed to be.

So, how can you tell if the ignition timing is where it is supposed to be, like you can do with a distributor/rotor?

theres nothing to check.
if your timing marks are correct, and the reluctors are correct, you're done.

Maybe a bad crank sensor
