montero flat tow
Howdy. New to forum,and Mitsubishi.
I purchased an older Montero 4x4. 1991 model with 234000 miles. Still in pretty good shape. Dead miss on one cylinder but I believe valve job will fix that. No smoke and no discolored oil. Heck of an engine in these cars. All I could find in my search for flat tow behind RV were a couple answers. Owners manual states with automatic its a no go. However I noticed that on a standard tranny there is a neutral position but not on the automatic. Got er to looking and found a guy who used what he called a false neutral. Used a fold over slotted keeper to keep it there in that position. I checked and sure enough there is a neutral position between 4l and 4h.we put it there and left tranny in park and it rolled right away. So did anybody else try this? Seems to me its a cya thing by Mitsubishi to never let tranny turn as you go down the road. Anyhow what a ya think? |
