Default motor swap

Does anyone know whether or not I can put a 3L from a '99 Galant into my '91 montero? wiki says the motor is the same but I see big differences, any input? thanks.

Not sure about the galant, but I just bought a 94 3.0 out of a Caravan that I am putting in the wife's 92 SR. So far, everything is the same, and even though it is a front wheel drive engine, the mounting holes are there for the rear wheel drive mounts in the wife's monty. Hope this helps some.

What are the differences you see? They both use the same 6g72...

like thumper said
if there is enough space and the mounting match, there is no problem in fitting it.

So far the only differences I have seen in the two are
1) Oil pan off monti onto new engine
2) Intake off monti
3) The oil filter assembly off the monti has to be mounted onto the engine, and the oil filter assembly for the FWD app is covered by the mounting block. You will have to make a gasket for this area.
4) front cover and all pullies/accessories have to be swapped onto the new engine.
5) water pump has to be swapped.
Keep in mind that this is for a 94 out of a Caravan/Voyager, so the one out of a Galant may be a little different, not sure. I should have the new engine in the wife's monti today. I'll let you know if i run into anything else. Hope this helps some, as you can usually find the chrysler engines all over for around 150.00, whereas the mitsu engines out of the monties, etc usually run up around 500.00+, Also, I was told not to change the timing pullies on the cams, as the forged ones do not set right on the chrysler heads(not sure what the difference between the stamped/forged ones are yet.

A few more odds and ends that I have come across. You will have to change the flywheels as well. they are close to the same, but not quite.

ok, I think the last mod is you will have to cut a notch in the pass side motor mount. the dipstick for the fwd chrysler is on that side.......under the mount. other than that.......IT FITS, LOL
