My 1996 Montero Sport Dies after truck heats up
 

After I turn my truck on, and get it on the road, its dies once it heats up. Im thinking its the thermalstat that might not allow the Fans to turn on, and hence the truck shuuting down before overheating. Any thoughts on this ior have an idea of what it could be that needs fixing? Any help is greatly appreciated, its a great truck to me. Thanks.

Does your temp gauge rise above normal? It could be a stuck thermostat. Have you ever flush the cooling system?

I have not checked the temp gauge. I have not really looked into it yet, but in the morning, i will check the temp gauge and also check to see if the fans turn on as well.

I think if the fans dnt kick on, it cause the truck to turn off so as to not over heat. Im not sure on this, Im guessing. I will post a reply in the morning.

Check the obvious first such as the coolant condition. It should look clear in color, meaning not a muddy green if it has green coolant. Try getting the Prestone Flush and follow the directions. That should clean out you entire cooling system of any debris that has accumulated over the years. Refill with a 50/50 mixture and burp the car so there aren't any air pockets. That would be the easiest and cheapest way to diagnose before going to a themostat or possibly a water pump. Keep your eyes on the temp gauge. The temp gauge should not rise above operating temperature if all is good. Good luck with your find.
