New here, quick question about purchasing used Montero

I hope this is the right forum, I am new here. I am looking at purchasing a 2001 full size montero limited. Is there anything I should look out for on it? It has 136,000miles. The guy I talked to said the temp gauge is messed up...and I have read a few posts on here saying it is a common problem, but is it one that NEEDS to be fixed right away since it can be pricey? Any info about that and what to specifically look for would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I've own my '02 since it had 25k, and now it just turned 120k.
I have not had any problems.
Find out if the previous owner followed the factory service schedule.
Are there records of the services that have been conducted?
If it were me, I'd be most interested in the timing belt (and everything that goes with the 120k replacement) and the thermostat, water pump, cooling system system services. Cooling issues should be taken care of as soon as possible. Left unattended, overheating can cause serious problems.
I hope this helps.
Our Monty has taken us to many amazing places, and hopefully many more to come. If everything checks out, I'd recommend joining the MM family.

Good Luck
