New member Buying MMS question
 

Hi

Tomorow I will be looking (to buy) a 97 Montero Sport ,5spd Manual ,4x4 with 55k miles.

I would appreciate any tip or advice on what to check and llok for to be sure that the car does not have any problem.

I would start with a carfax report to ensure those 55k miles are true...sounds kinda low for almost 10 years old. I would make sure you engage the 4x4 LO and make sure it's not problematic (on dirt ). Sorry but not familiar with the Montero specifically, that's all I can offer aside from the basics relative to all vehicles.

I just checked the carfax report and the miles seem to be true. The only thing that concerns me is that the car has had 4 owners. The clutch seems to have been changed at only 15k miles. Carfax shows regular service at a dealer until 22k miles which is when it started changin owners. After that, it only shows reports of emmisions tests and ownership change. This does not mean that service was not done regularly, nevertheless....

How long is the clutch suposed to last on these trucks?
