No lights on dashboard !
Hi,
I have a 1998 Montero and the lights on the dashboard do no work, leaving it dark when I switch the headlights on. I can't see my speed at night. Has anyone a tip ? Blown fuse? Contact? Where should I look? Thanks a lot. |
If anyone knows where I can get the fuse box diagram for the 1998 Montero that would help a lot.

First, welcome to the forums.
2nd: It would be helpful if you had included more info in your first post (such as the fact that you don't have an owner's manual) Also would help to know if this is a new problem that just happened or if it's been that way since you got the truck. 3rd: I have '99 Full Size and can fax or e-mail you the fuse diagram. Send me a PM with your email address and/or fax # 4th: The fuse for the instrument lights is #5 in the engine comparment fuse box next to the battery. Photo below. It's the red 10 AMP fuse in the center of the photo. Fuses are numbered from the top of the photo - (slot #1 is empty) According to the wiring diagram this fuse also protects the clock, headlamp washers, Seat Heaters, and tail lamps so if those are still working on your truck then this fuse is probably not blown. 5th: If the fuse is OK, then the other places to check are the dimmer rheostat and the wiring from the fuse box to the dimmer to the instrument panel. Last: If everything else checks out you might just have four burned out bulbs. Rare but possible especially if the truck is new to you and if they didn't just all stop working at once. Ron |
