NO MORE MONTEROS AFTER '05

Have just read a report in October's issue of Motor Trend that Mitsubishi will stop exports of the full-size Montero at the end of 2005. Surely, the Montero is still a cash cow with the loyal following that it has?

Question is, what will replace it? If that's the case, I'm pretty sure they have something planned. I hope its not the same with the Pajero...that's what I have at the moment and planning and upgrade within the next year or so. :(

It is a rumor that Mitsubishi has a pickup truck to replace the Montero.2005 is also the last year for the Eclipse and Diamante.

I am in California and the dealers cannot sell the Montero's or Diamonte's. I got my '03 in dec of '03 for $9k off msrp and it had 21miles on it. I screwed up because in Jan '04 they advertised them for $10.5k of MSRP. Mitsu just kept delivering them to the dealers who could not sell them. Then they get sold off as used cars. One dealer near here is selling a 2002 Diamonte with 147 miles on it. I love my montero's but would never pay list for them. The engine technology just does not stack up against the competition. Without variable valve timing they cannot get the power or mpg compared with the competition.
