NO SPARK ON CYL. 3 AND 6....2002 MONTY
I replaced the coil for those cylinders with no luck. This is a 2002 Sport with 105K miles and 3.0 engine.
There is voltage to the coil, but no fire from it. I have also pulled the power module, or I guess the ignition module and have tested the pins with an ohmeter. The IB3 pin is giving me a much different reading than 1 and 2 whentesting with the ground pin. Anyone have any experience with this or have a similar situation?
My guess is there is no feedback to the ECU to tell the coil to fire in sequence, but with so little info available on this vehiclle and no service manual, it is difficullt to tell. My next step is to replace the power unit.
Thanks for any help.

if your coil has pulsed voltage going to it, meaning the crank sensor tells the pcm to fire one particular coil every second or so,and the ground is goodthat means the wiring is ok, and if you replaced the coil that should be fine. so doesnt sound like to me you have a coil problem. you could have the plug wires crossed or the wires themselves are bad. needs to be checked before can move on!! good luck!! greg....

RE: NO SPARK ON CYL. 3 AND 6....2002 MONTY
Thanks for the response and advice. Seems after all I am getting spark to cylinder 6 after replacing the coil, but number 3 remains dead. All others throw a good healthy blue spark.
I have pulled the harness at the Power Module and tested the leads for 12VDC and that seems to be good. Since I do not have a manual for this vehicle Ido not know the impedance specs for the Module, but I tested the all leads and found that the reading on IB3 was much different than those on IB1 and IB2.
At this point it appears the power transistor is the culprit. Also a difficult part to find and not cheap.

Just an update on this. I did some further troubleshooting and determined the Ignition Control Module had a dead lead on pin IB3whichfires cylinders 3 and 6. I ordered the part from O'reilly's for $107 and installed it last night. Monty runs better than ever now.
Problem fixed.
So check the ignition module if you are not receiving spark from one coil output and you have already replaced the coil.

No spark on cyl. 3 and 6....2002 monty ( fixed it )
I had the same problem codes thrown said misfire cyl 3 and 6 so I started with the cheapest things first that would cause this problem, spark plugs and wires, cam and crank shaft sensors, fuel injectors, coils still no change. that left only 2 things the Ignition Control Module and the computer so I ordered the ICM off E-bay for $15.69 changed it and low and behold that solved the problem and I'm glad it did cause a computer was quite expensive at just over $200.00 dollars all in all it now runs like a new truck for under $200.00 dollars so if your having the same problem start with the ICM. Hope this helps you out
