Default Pastidipped the Wheels on My 99 M/S

While I was waiting for parts to arrive over three weeks, I took the time to clean & plastidip my wheels. Also did my grill. Plan on fixing some rust and laying down a rattle can paint job in the next month.

Very nice. I'm thinking of plastidipping my other car (not Montero). It has old faded paint and I think I would definitely be an improvement.

I would be interested in how resilient the plastidip material is. Would you please update us after you take your Monty bushwhacking and offroading couple times.

I will plastidipping this within the month. I have some rust issues to fix first. I was going to spray bomb it, because I'm awesome at it, but decided to give it a go with the ole plastidip for fun.

This stuff is pretty tough as long as you start with a super clean base. I use dish soap, water and really fine steel wool to start with. After that, I hit it with Duplicolor Paint Prep Spray, which removes whatever the soap didn't remove. Finally, I hit it with plastidip.

Start with really light coats, and shake in between passes. They key is to make sure the plastidip is continuously mixed. That's where most people screw up. Just keep hitting it with the light coats. The more light coats, the better. 1000 light coats is better than 5 heavy coats.

So far, my boss did his Tundra front grill, front bumper, rear bumper, and emblems. He takes his truck to the automatic car wash. I hit mine with a pressure washer. We've both had pretty great success with it.
