rear Caliper ?

On 03 Montero Sport. The rear drivers side caliper appears to have locked up. Not a big deal Iam just going to replace it. But this is the second rear caliper that has locked up on the truck. The first on was at about 90K miles on the factory set. Now another one locked up at about 133K miles. Both rears were replaced at 90K. Maybe the reman one wasn't the best. But Just wondering if there is a problem with the rear calipers that anyone knew of.ITs not that big of a deal just seemed odd.

Thanks

It is odd, i will tell you that.

I couldnt really tell you why this was happening though. Do you leave the e-brake on for extended periods of time?

Yeah I thought it was odd. The E brake is rarely used and never left on for a long time.I have to take a closer lookat the caliper tonight.

Caliper lockup? Is there excess corrosion or something? Does not seem that common. Are you dipping the rear tires in salt water - like boat ramp?

RE: rear Caliper ?

My left rear locked up this past summer, replaced with a re manufactured. I don't drive mine much, whichwas probably my problem.

I have a 97 and This has happened 3 times also. I had both of my rear calipers replaced after they locked up around 85k miles. Now at 170k miles it has happened again on the passenger rear. It is my daily driver to put about 300 miles a week on her and I dont live near the ocean. I don't know what causes it? I just replace them and everything goes great after that.

I just replace the caliper last night. Yeah it was locked right up. It must just be a thing with these calipers. The first pair were reaplced at about 90K and then now at about 135K. So I suspect on of them will do it again soon. The truck is driven alot and In Western NYso maybe the crappy salty roads in the winter don't helpI am sure.
