Say it aint so!!!

Well, my kid totaled the Rhino (aka 1997 SR). Thank the good Lord no one was hurt! The Subaru he rear-ended is now 2 ft shorter than it used to be...

Soooo, I've owned the Rhino for all of 15 months, and absolutely love it. I'm thinking of getting another 1997 or so Gen II, or a 2001 style Monty LTD. I don't climb mountains, just the odd logging road, now and then, and I need the 4wd for the snow here in VT.

Suggestions? [sm=headbang.gif]

Both airbags deployed, grille, bumper, hood & bot fenders mashed up, windshield cracked....pretty messed up. I'd like to fix it, but can't make the #'s work. I'll post before and after pics..

Is the engine still in good condition? If so, you may only need to replace the front clip (front body parts) and the radiator, transmission cooler, and ancilliary fans (engine, ac, etc.)

If you have no fear of doing the work yourself, it may be worth doing. On the otherhand, since the airbags deployed, I believe you'd only be able to insure it as a salvage title vehicle (in California anyway).

If it were my vehicle, I'd do it. Better yet, buy a used one with a bad engine/tranny and swap the engine/tranny over to the new vehicle. Then remove as many usable parts as possible from the wrecked one and save them as spares for your new one. Sell the other parts online. Then check w/ your local municipality for their salvage vehicle program. In Santa Clara County, California for example, they will come and pick up any salvage vehicle you have. No charge to you.
