Survey: How many miles before replacing timing belt on 2001-2006 Montero?

Hello,
When did you replace timing belt on 2001-2006 Montero? I have received mixed info from 60k to 90k miles.
Thanks
Rob

Replaced my belt at just over 60k.
I plan on servicing it again at 120k.
It will be a bigger deal this time around, because I'll replace the water pump, the cam shaft seals, and more than likely the tensioner, etc.
IMHO if you stick with the MM service schedule your rig should run well for many miles.
You'll be very sad if your belt brakes while driving.

Previous owner replaced Timing belt and water pump at 96 Km. Just crossed 140 Km and runs like a top.

I have 76K on mine now and am in the process of having it done this week. I also want to change the WP and the tensioner since it's going to be open. Am original owner and know it wasn't beat up. Do I really need to do the tensioner and WP now? That's going to add $200 to the repair cost.

I replaced my timing belt, spark plugs, spark plug wires, ATF, coolant, radiator hoses, serpentine belt, valve cover gaskets and the oil leaking, rear cam O-ring seals (PN-MN176208) $2.00 each @ the dealership, which should be replaced regardless if they are leaking oil or not when you do your spak plugs. Did all this at 82,000 miles.

me too

Gotta do everything on your list on my 2002 with 128K, but the ATF. What did you use for a manual? Anything I should be aware of?

TIA

As an interesting sidelight, in the original maintenance schedule that came with my 95 beast, it says:

CALIFORNIA ONLY: It is recommended, but not required, to replace the timing belt and balancer at 60,000 mile intervals.

And I'm thinking: WTF?

I had my TB swapped w/76K on a '02 LTD full size and the belt looked like it was brand new. The service writer asked if the belt was recently done, why are you doing it again? I said it was original, he couldn't believe it.

He had it done at a dealer, so maybe he didn't need a manual. I'm wondering what they charged for all that work?
