thermometer not working

The thermometer in my montero 03 awd is not working. It was working fine before and after a suffer an accident, the body shop said they didn't touch any electrical parts.
If the weather is dry I only get 0°, but when is raining it star reading but not so accurate and as soon as the car drys up it's back to 0°.
Can some body tell where is the sensor located, what it looks like, or a diagram to guide me.
Ps The compass is working ok.

It sounds like your temp sensor quit. It's located on the inside of the front bumper.
The repair probably did not cause the problem, the accident probably did.

i had the same problem on my 02 montero ltd, but after i changed my battery it came back, i suggest to check your battery. let us know if it works

You can't get at the sensor from the top. You'll need to remove the black brush guard under the grille to get at the sensor. But, as the other gentleman suggested, test your battery first.

Itīs not the battery, the old one die and replace it with a Optima 90 amp and still no readings.
I remove the guard on the grill and there's nothing, and I mean nothing, my montero only has the outer polyethylene bumper no steel soul.
I need to go to a yunk yard to buy all the inner parts of the bumper, maybe there a can find the sensor.
