Tire Sidewall

I am getting new rear arm assemblies on my '02 Montero Limited after rust, and the tires are worn. I am in the market for new tires, and I would like to know the biggest sidewall for my year without hitting anything. The original is 265/70/16, can I go to a 75 or possibly 80 without a lift? BTW I want to get BFG AT.

Do you have OEM suspension, or have you installed a lift.
I have a 2" lift, and it easily fits the 75's I have on there now.
It could handle 80's, but I'm very happy with the 75's.
If you do a fair amount of off highway driving, pay attention to the load rating.
E load tires are designed with more ply in the side wall. If you drive on pavement only a C load is really all you need. Many folks like the BFG AT's. I'm enjoying the Goodyear Duratrac. I've liked the hybrid MT/AT tread and the performance in the snow and ice has been excellent.
Good Luck

No lift just regular suspension, and I travel a lot in mine yes but I'd like a little more capability
