Default Transfer of Headlights from 02 to 98?

I found a junk 02 limited montero sport V-6 4wd that a guy is scraping for parts. My montero is a 98 XLS V-6 4wd the headlights have faded tremendously, I was thinking of buying the scrap 02 headlights and putting on the 98. The lights for the 02 looks like one piece while the 98 comes in two. Do you guys think it will fit??

IIRC, they are NOT compatible without changing the front grill and front bumper, and perhaps the front fenders.

Not sure why you'd want to do this anyway. The headlamps in the 1997-99 Montero Sport are far superior optically to the 2000+ headlamps. The original, factory lamps in the early models had a real glass lens (although most of the aftermarket replacements have cheaper polycarbonate lenses) and H4 bulbs. The 2000+ headlamps from the factory are cheap polycarbonate, have crummy 9007 bulbs, and they are optically inferior to the early lamps.

About the only thing I really missed after selling my 1999 and replacing it with a 2003 Montero Sport is the headlamp performance. If you really want superior lighting, find some good, clear, used, FACTORY (glass lens) headlamps from a 1997-99 model, or buy new ones from the dealer. Don't bother with aftermarket since the lenses will fade and cloud up within a few years.

Just a follow-up. There is a pair of OEM glass used headlamp assemblies on eBay right now with a starting bid of $60.00 each. I'm not the seller, nor related to the seller, just letting you know they are there.
