Default Transmission slipping?

I have a 2002 Montero Limited that I just got running a few months ago. A few days later my psycho neighbor rear ended it and pushed it through my garage (intentionally, he’s in prison now) but now my transmission will slip from 1st to neutral at random and won’t shift for a few minutes after. I’ve been stuck at traffic lights and really struggled getting it up some ramps. I’ve ordered parts for a fluid change but I’m worried it’s worse than that. Does anyone have experience or ideas about what it could be besides fluids?
thanks

That sounds very serious and dangerous. Before you jump in to change fluid, take it to a mechanic and have them check to see if the rearending accident did not cause any misalignment in shift linkage, pinching (sharp bending) of transmisdion cooling lines or pinching and damage to transmisdion control wires.
