Turbo which one? 49135-02652
 

Hiya. My truck is causing me grief again!

This time it's the turbo. I've done some checking around and found out that the 2002+ model Montero Sport Diesels have a weak spot, some sort of oil valve thingy attached to the oil filter, it's on a spring and sometimes doesn't move freely, which causes low pressure and the turbos break, followed by the big ends.

but i think this one was recalled for that to be fixed.

Anyways.

So, the turbo has gone. And the trouble i'm having to replace it. 2 local mechanics have brought me the wrong one swearing it's the right one and it's not until they look at it that they agree.

But, my question is, can i buy a new 02110 (or whatever) code turbo it is, the one that fits montero's and L200 etc and just swap the exhaust part over so that the new bit will still fit?

and does anyone know, which is the higher output model?

There's a 114Hp and a 98Hp, both 4D56 engines, both available in 2002.

If you know about turbos, please let me know...
