Smile What oil and Oil change Interval using?

Hello,

What weight/brand/synthetic/mineral oil are you using? What is your oil change interval?

Thanks in advance.

On my Montero I'm using Quacker state 5x30 synthetic blend oil. Change it every 5,000 miles. Has been doing it for over 215k miles now. Works for me
On another vehicle I own, I use Gastrol GTX 20-50. This is required oil weight for that engine and the only brand I can find that has that range. In other words - I use the oil weight that vehicle's manufacturer specifies in the manual.

Thumbs up

I have been running Castrol Edge 5/30 in my 04 full size Montero since the free dealer oil changes expired @ 36000 miles. She now is pushing 108110 miles, i run the oil for 6500 miles between changes, and have not had any issues.

Can I change from regular oil to synthetic oil with no problem?

Yes you can. You might read some horror stories (more like anecdotes) about change from conventional oil to synthetic on the interwebs, but those come from the days when synthetic oils just started to show up on the market many decades ago. In those times some incompatibilities may have been a cause for concern. These days, you can go straight from regular dino juice to synthetic oil without any issues. You do gain all the benedits of full synthetics for engine protection with the change. Stay with the same oil weight as specified in your manual and you'll be good.

Thanks for the advice, also do not forget about the oil cooler, which directly affects the engine. Here you can find PowerStroke 7.3 Oil Cooler Upgrade ,good parts and information on how to use it, as well as an installation manual, choose your spare parts wisely
