'12 Outie GT: LED bulbs and CANbus compatibility
Hallo!
I searched the forums and haven't found any specific reference to this question (apologies if I didn't conduct my search diligently enough):
Will LED bulb replacements that are not built with load-resistors to be CANbus-compatible cause the ECU to generate errors?
Does it even matter or are only European cars that finicky about light bulbs?
I intend to replace as many of the smaller bulbs as I can in my 2012 Outie GT, like the interior 31mm 3022's and the 2825/194 marker lights, with LED's.
Thanks!

Is the search function really that awful? I guess I've been lucky, so far!

I've been using it frequently since I joined and have found many threads that contain answers to questions I have about my Mitsubeastie. I'll admit that the search results are a bit clunky but the feature does get me part of the way to the info I've been looking for.
Re LED's and CANbus;
Turn signals with LED's installed instead of incandescent's definitely blink rapidly if the turn signal relay doesn't support LED bulbs or if the LED bulb doesn't have a load-resistor (built-in or otherwise).
I'm not touching those for this round.
The map lights, 2nd row and rear dome lights, front and rear side-markers, and license plate lights are on the menu for LED substitutions this month.
Based on what I've been reading in the forums, it *seems* like folks are not getting "No Bulb" errors after installing size 3022 LED festoon bulbs.
I suspect that I can play fast-and-loose with those but I wonder if
non-CANbus bulbs are going to be OK in the sidemarkers (which don't blink) and license plate lamps.
I'm hoping to avoid trial-and-error but if I have to go that route, I'll post my results. ^_^V

I put V-LED's brand 194's in my front markers and license plate lights, their 192's in my reverse lights, and their 31mm festoon's in my front map lights, along some off brand LED's in my front markers and haven't gotten any errors in my Outlander Sport.
The only incandescent bulbs left are the rear dome light, F&R turn signals, fog lamps, high beams, and fender markers. And most of those are on the list to be replaces with LED's lol

As of Friday afternoon, I ordered a set of bulbs from superbrightleds.com to replace everything except the turn signals, 1156-type DRL's, fog lights, vanity lights, and lower glovebox light.
I've had good experiences with that store in the past, replacing bulbs in my 4th gen Maxima and getting parts from them to build lighting modules for PC casemods.
I was thinking about also hitting up Autolumination.com but I don't know much about them, in terms of reliability and customer service.
Regarding turn signals, have any of you tried swapping out the OEM flasher relay for one that supports LED bulbs, in order to prevent rapid flashing?
