Default 2008 outlander 2.0 di.d fuel filter change

Hi new to this forum, we have recently purchased a 2008 outlander with the 2.0 Diesel engine,

I wish to change the fuel filter I have located it and purchased a new one however I am unsure how to bleed the fuel system as I cannot see a lift pump or is it electronic?

Are there any online guides or could any one talk me through changing it.

Many thanks

Paul

I don't know about the diesels, but the fuel filter on mine is located in the top of the fuel tank and is considered a lifetime filter (unless you dump something in the tank by mistake or run the tank empty multiple times). Now of course diesel is a different setup but tank mounted fuel filters have been pretty common for the last 10-15 years. Mits uses really high quality parts, so if it is not called out in the regular service book, I would not mess with it as you can potentially do more damage by incorrectly completing a maintenance step (I have done this more than once, unfortunately). People on here are pretty nice and you might be able to find the shop service manual for a diesel. Have a good one. -D

thanks im pretty sure this one needs replacing it is located at the back of the engine bay and has two pipes going to the top of it, an in and an out im guessing these are held on with clamps so just pop them off put new filter in and reconnect my concern is how do I get the new filter filled with fuel and air out of the system.

I am wondering if the priming pump is electronic so may pull pipe off filter and switch ignition on a see if fuel is pumped out of the pipe or filter
