2009 Outlander Oil Leak
I have a German registered Outlander with the 2.2 Diesel engine.
It will be 4 years old at the end of February and has covered 40,000 miles.
I noticed an oil leak a few days ago so I took it to the dealers today to get it looked at.
When they took the plastic guard off there was oil everywhere and it appears to be coming from where the gearbox joins the engine.
Now when the 3 year warranty was over I bought a further 2 year warranty.
This gives me a couple of questions that maybe someone can answer.
Firstly the dealers think its the rubber seal on the engine, given the amount of oil it must be destroyed, the engine lost two thirds of its oil in the 10 mile journey to the dealer. Is this a common problem for this rubber seal to fail or could something else be at fault.
Secondly the dealer thinks this part isn't covered under warranty as its a rubber seal and these are not covered, now I don't mind paying for the part but the labour is going to be ridiculous.
If it isn't covered surely something like this shouldn't fail with this amount of mileage or age. Has anyone else had any experience of something similar that was covered.
I can see a fight coming on if it isn't covered.
Many thanks
