2011 Outlander Sport Remote Start DIY
Hi all! I just bought a 2011 Outlander Sport and I've been spending hours reading all your posts. I think my wife would kill me if I put our headlights in the oven, but it's great to read about!
Anyway, the dealership wanted $700 to install remote start, to which I said no way. Now that the weather is getting colder, I'm trying to find a cheaper solution on my own. I currently have the pushbutton start with the FAST key. I have found a few OEM remote start fobs online (here), but they don't seem to come with anything else. I've seen used remote start fobs for a good bit less. I also saw this video, which makes me think that all vehicles come capable of remote start but it's useless without a fob. So, the ultimate question is: can I just buy the fob (new or used) and follow the youtube video to link it to my car? Or do I need to buy another part that receives the remote start signal? Thanks so much for your help! |
I can't help with your question, but would like to know also.
I would have thought that the computer system currently in there would be able to start the car, since there is a push button start already. But I couldn't understand why. Please let me know if you were able to find out more, I was interested in doing this also. |
