2013 outlander sport check engine soon

Hi
I am the owner of an Outlander sport 2013 with 21,000 miles, I hardly use the car.
Due to the low mileage, I take for service once a year.
The maintenance sign appeared every time I started the outlander.
Two weeks ago a light I never seen before appear in the dashboard, it read.
"Check Engine Soon"

I searched online and I cleared the maintenance message and when I started the card again, the message "Check Engine Soon" disappeared.
I checked the fluids and they appear fine.
I went to Auto Zone to see if they could run the diagnostics, but they don't offer that service anymore.

Is the "Check Engine Soon" message to worry about or is this normal behavior?
Thank You
Mario

Most of the time it’s an emissions related thing. Might be worth it in the long run to by a code reader. If it seems fine, try giving it “Italian tune”.

I could be mistaken, but if the maintenance isn’t cleared perhaps it’s prompting the check engine light to come on.
